BANGALORE:  The West Division police arrested 137 criminals and recovered stolen property worth Rs 2.83 crore in connection of various crimes committed in the past three month. The City Police Commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji said that the police have solved 166 cases, including four robberies, 13 extortions, 9 chain snatching cases, 11 theft cases, 23 burglaries and 37 other cases.  About 5.311 kg gold ornaments, 26 kg silver ornaments, 5 three-wheelers, 8 four-wheelers, 7 laptops, 2 monitors, 9 mobiles, 26 gas cylinders and `2,51,920 lakh cash were recovered.Chandra Layout Police have also arrested dacoits from Tamil Nadu. The accused have been identified as Ponnaswami alias Siidique Bai (65) and Raja alias Mori Raja (38). The two used to break into locked houses and steal valuables. Stolen property worth `25 lakh was recovered from them.Magadi Road police arrested seven men, who have been identified as, S R Praksh alias Valanga (24), Yohan alias Papu (24), Mahamed alias Jabi (25), Narasimha Murthy (25), S Somashekar alias Somu (23), Yogananda alias Yoga (21) and Rakesh alias Raki (21) and recovered Rs 25 lakh from them. The gang was accused of dacoity and robbery.Basaveshwaranagar police arrested a woman Dhanalakhmi, who was involved in cheating and recovered valuables worth Rs 20 lakh. Byataraynapura police arrested two men who were involved in selling ancient idols. The accused are Girish alias Varsha (28) and Deepak alias Somashekar (28). Cottonpet police arrested Jambukumar, who wasinvolved in a cheating case and had sold a diamond necklace worth `42 lakh  in Tamil Nadu.
