New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's journey to New Delhi is the biggest story of the year 2014. Like an ambitious general, he came, he saw and he conquered the throne of Delhi in May 2014. He not only won the race to the post of Prime Minister, he also won absolute majority for his party BJP at the Centre. All agree that Modi's victory is the biggest Indian story of the year.
It is also considered one of the top 10 events of the year in the World.
The humiliating debacle of the Congress at the hands of Modi is also an equally important event of the year. The Congress which ruled the country for 10 years from 2004 lost miserably by winning just 44 Lok Sabha seats. Since its defeat at the Centre, it has also lost four assembly elections.
Modi has also managed to secure a big victory in assembly elections to Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir by dislodging the Congress and the Congress led or backed governments in these states.
Politically the 2014 belongs to Modi. He has earned it.
It has also been a year when the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) made a spectacular leap with Mangalyaan reaching the orbit of Mars.
