KANCHEEPURAM: Three persons have been taken into custody by Kancheepuram police on Sunday for the murder of Charles (28), a notorious criminal, on Saturday.“We have cracked the case in less than 36 hours,” said DSP K Rajendhran while presenting the three accused persons Rajini (32), Ezhilmaran (24) and Karthic (21) at the Taluk police station. Charles had been murdered by the trio near Adidravidar Government Higher Secondary School in Orikkai on Friday where he had come to supervise assemblance at the cricket ground for a local competition.According to Rajendhran, all the three accused were waiting near a marriage hall in Sevilimedu around Saturday midnight in order to board any available bus to take them away. But one of the three police teams formed to crack the case swooped on them succesfully. Rajendhran said the deceased himself was wanted in many cases, including murder, and preliminary investigation revealed he had a steaming illicit relationship with first accused Rajini’s wife Revathi.An enraged Rajini vowed to kill Charles, his distant relative, along with the connivance of his friend Ezhilmaran, who had a running enmity with Charles, and Ezhilmaran’s friend Karthic, a thug. All the three accused were immediately produced before the magistrate and remanded to Vellore central prison.
