PUDUCHERRY: Six persons were arrested in connection with the murder of Arumugam @ “Nondi” Arumugam at Thilaspet last week, police said here on Tuesday. One more person involved in the murder, which took place near the Chief minister’s residence, was still absconding.Senior Superintendent of Police (L&O) V J Chandran told reporters on Tuesday that the accused Velayutham, Ranjith, Ramu, Ezhilvizhiyan, Ragul, Jayendiran were arrested following investigations. When asked about the motive, Chandran said that previous enmity was the cause and added that the accused admitted their offence and their confession statements had been recorded.‘No need for CBI probe’SSP ((L&O) V J Chandran on Tuesday said there was no need for a CBI inquiry into the murder of Nondi Arumugam. He pointed out that those involved in were arrested immediately.He also gave details of the statistics of Puducherry UT in respect of grave offences as on October 30.
