BANGALORE: The J P Nagar police arrested 9 Gujarat-based persons including two women for allegedly cheating a doctor of Rs 10 lakh. The accused have been identified as Ramalal, 29, Premlal, 37, Babu, 45, Kumar Solanki, 28, Harilal, 20, Shankar Lal alias Shankar, 21, Srinivas alias Seenu, 19, Mani Bai, 57, and Gowri Bai 25. According to the police, the accused allegedly visited the clinic of Dr Chaitra, who runs Sri Poly Clinic in J P Nagar VII Phase, in the guise of patients. They introduced themselves in false names and got close to her with frequent visits to clinic. Later, they claimed that, while their relatives were digging land near Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, they found treasure and gold coins, which belonged to colonial period.“They misled the doctor that the coins were worth lakhs of rupees and pleaded her to buy the coins, stating they were in financial crisis. They also offered her 2.5 kg of gold, if she paid Rs 10 lakh. Trusting them, the doctor agreed for the deal. Later, she realised that they had cheated her by giving duplicate gold coins and filed a case with J P Nagar in October,” the police added.During interrogation it was revealed that the same team had cheated two doctors in Madivala police station limits and those cases were solved with the arrest. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
