The Anti-Corruption Bureau submitted the status report on the ongoing probe into the liquor syndicate scam in a sealed cover to the High Court on Wednesday.
A division bench comprising acting chief justice PC Ghose and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar, while dealing with a batch of petitions filed in connection with the liquor scam, went through the report for a while and said that it would study the report in detail and adjourned the matter for hearing to next week.
On Aug 22 the bench told ACB’s standing counsel that it would monitor the liquor probe on weekly basis after seeing the status report and directed it to file a comprehensive report to the court in a sealed cover within two weeks on the progress of the investigation and also explaining how much time it needed to complete the probe.
It also wanted to know whether the ACB had filed any charge sheet in the case as the statutory period of 90 days had already elapsed.
