The state Wildlife Board has decided to seek clearance from the National Wildlife Board for the laying of additional water pipelines through the Sri Venkateshwara Wildlife Sanctuary to cater to the needs of the pilgrims visiting the Tirupathi Tirumala Devasthanams. The pipelines, which would run parallel to the existing ones, would require a forest land of 0.55 hectares. The pipleines would originate from the Papavinasanam Dam and would terminate at the forest check post in Tirumala.
The decision for the laying of the pipelines was taken during the fifth state wildlife board meeting at the secretariat on Monday which was chaired by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
