Bengaluru: Six suspected ISIS agents were detained in Bengaluru on Friday. According to sources, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested 6 persons, four from Bengaluru, one each from Tumkur and Mangalore.

It is also learnt that one of them wanted to join ISIS. All arrested have ISIS leanings claim top police sources. They are now being interrogated at a secret location.

This development comes in wake of a threat letter received by the French Consulate in Bengaluru 10 days back warning against French President Francois Hollande's impending visit to India.

The investigating agencies are trying to ascertain if these suspects have anything to do with a threat letter to French Consulate in Bengaluru.

In the recent times, over a dozen terror suspects and ISIS sympathisers have been picked from various places in Karnataka including state capital Bengaluru. Two weeks ago, a radical preacher was arrested from Bengaluru by the NIA.

Meanwhile, a resident of Mumbra, Maharashtra has been questioned by NIA and Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS). ATS sources added this is largely a nationwide crackdown by NIA. It is also learnt that Maharashtra ATS is only helping NIA in the case.

Four terror suspects were also arrested in Hyderabad, the sources added.
