PUDUCHERRY: A ruling AINRC legislator in the Union Territory of Puducherry, booked by police in neighbouring Tamil Nadu for allegedly assaulting two persons after a minor collision involving their cars has surrendered before a sub court at Vanur late last night, police said here.P Karthikeyan, who is also the Chairman of Puducherry Slum Clearance Board, was granted conditional bail by the court in Tamil Nadu after he surrendered.A case was registered against Karthikeyan on November 3 for offences including wrongful restraint, causing hurt and uttering obscene words by Auroville police.Police said a Congress volunteer from Puducherry and his sister were assaulted by Karthikeyan after their car collided with his vehicle near a speedbreaker at Tiruchitrambalam near here in Auroville police limits.The MLA allegedly assaulted the two, causing injuries and used abusive language against them.He had been directed by the court to sign every day before the Auroville police for a month.Police also registered a case against the Congress worker for criminal intimidation on a counter complaint received from the MLA's car driver.Tamil Nadu police had last month booked Puducherry Education Minister P M L Kalyanasundaram under different sections of IPC on charges of cheating in a 10th standard supplementary examination in September.He has been absconding after the Madras High Court refused his anticipatory bail on November 8.
