New Delhi: Delhi Police’s Special cell has arrested a Group captain of Indian Air Force for passing on the classified information related to cyber space and classified information related to airforce operations . He is the same person who was detained and questioned by the IAF on January 31. He is now under five days of police custody.
According to DCP Special Cell, the group captain has been identified as Arun Marwaha. A case of spying has been registered against him and police have also invoked sections of Official Secrets Act.
Marwaha was working as joint director operations and was posted at Vayu Bhawan. It has been alleged in the complaint, accessed by News18, that he was passing on some secret documents pertaining to the operations of Air Force “to unauthorised persons which may jeopardise the security of the nation.”
During a close watch it was found that group captain was carrying smartphone to the headquarters, which is prohibited. On sustained questioning he confessed of being in touch with two women - Mahima Patel and Kiran.
He has befriended these women on social networking sites three months ago and was sending classified documents through various messenger apps.
“He has passed the classified service information over the cyber space, including a document of forthcoming Air Force Exercise, and in the process has revealed the Air Force operational informational of classified nature,” read the complaint to police.
According to police, he has been alleged of clicking photos from his phone of the classified documents and sending them to these women, which might risk the safety and security of the country and might assist the enemy.
Police have registered the case and have undertaken investigation. They have sent his mobile phone to the FSL . Police is also trying to track the women - whether they are real or someone else with fake identity was getting information From the captain.
