Ministers and top bureaucrats reviewed the preparations going on at the Le Meridien Convention Centre in Kochi on Tuesday prior to the ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet.
Ministers P K Kunhalikutty, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Chief Secretary K Jayakumar, KSIDC managing director Alkeshkumar Sharma and DGP K S Balasubrahmaniam were among the top dignitaries who visited the venue.
Minister for Industries P K Kunhalikutty said that both the central and state public sector companies in the state are hopeful of getting a major push from the ‘Emerging Kerala’ investors’ meet.
The state expects that some major ideas which could boost the economic development of the state would emerge from this meet. He was speaking to reporters at Le Meridien, the venue for the meet.
He said that the government is ‘extremely vigilant’ about the environmental aspects of the proposed projects. No projects will be allowed if only the investor is the sole beneficiary of a project.
“Only projects which are beneficial for the common man will be allowed. The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is not the crux of an investors’ meet but a clear cut policy for the proposed project,” he said.
He revealed that the government is seriously looking into some projects for Gulf returnees.
