The deal could make Alonso the highest paid driver on the starting grid.
New Delhi: Double world F1 champion Fernando Alonso will return to Renault next season in an all-new line-up with Brazilian Nelson Piquet junior being the second driver.
Though no financial details are out yet, the deal could make Alonso the highest paid driver on the starting grid.
Some reports have suggested a figure of around a $100 million over three years.
Media reports are also quoting a Renault spokesman confirming the contract is for two years with an option on a third.
Alonso had won both his titles with Renault in in 2005 and 2006 before moving to McLaren.
