Thiruvananthapuram: An Indian working in Yemen, Pushkaran TV, working with the Pravasi association and Kerala club claimed that about 10-12 Indians have escaped to safety in a Pakistani boat from the strife-torn Yemen.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Pushkaran said that two days back about 10 to 12 Indians got into a Pakistan boat and escaped from Shahadar in Mukkala. Pushkaran, who returned home on Sunday, said, "They wanted to escape. There was no information about escape through Mukkalala. It is 12 hour drive from Yemenese capital Sana'a. They are there in oil field installations and Shahadar, a small place. They wanted to escape; when they got some ship they escaped. It was two days back and it was a Pakistan ship and about 10 to 12 Indians have escaped".
According to him they are proceeding towards Karachi from there they will be moving to India.
He said, "In a place in Sadaa about 90 Indians are stuck in a hospital. It is not possible to come through road. The Indian embassy doesn't want people to take that risk, so they said that they can send a list of people there and they can escape through Saudi Arabia. The arrangements will be done through Riyadh Indian embassy. It's about 90 Indians. Indian embassy has already started the evacuation of them through Saudi Arabia."
Talks about situation in Yemen, s shaken Pushkaran said, "Night it is bad, thousands of gunshots are heard. Night is miserable, we don't get sleep. In the last one week, the situation got worse. That's why we want to appeal to all the Indians there to return home. I know there are many rules, I just came back with a luggage of 8 kilos, left back even my laptop and several things, but we have to escape, it's an evacuation flight."
Talking about the tough life in Yemen, he said, "Usually in Yemen the transportation is not that easy, we cannot travel easily. Usually every weekend they bring in people in their vehicle for shopping in Sanaa. Nowadays hospital is not doing that. The life there is normal, no street fighting in capital Sanaa, but street fighting is on at Aden, Mukkala and all other places. People don't want to come back because they are earning, if they come back they won't get a job, they have not received salaries and their certificates etc are not with them."
