HYDERABAD: A day after the Supreme Court deferred her bail petition, suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi on Wednesday filed a bail petition in the special CBI court here. The senior IAS officer, who was arrested and presently lodged in the Chanchalguda prison, approached the apex court after her bail was dismissed by the High Court. The SC deferred her bail plea to April 2. Srilakshmi's counsel filed a bail petition on Wednesday in the CBI court under clause 2 of Section 167 of the CrPC.Srilakshmi's counsel contended that as the CBI failed to file a chargesheet within 60 days of her arrest, she can be granted bail. When Srilakshmi's counsel raised the same issue before the SC, the court asked the counsel to file a bail petition in the lower court on the same ground. The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Thursday.
