HYDERABAD: A day after conducting raids on the houses of Excise and Prohibition officials for their alleged links with liquor syndicates, the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Sunday arrested four of them.They were produced before the ACB court which send them to judicial remand till March 16.They were then shifted to Cherlapally central prison.The arrested officials are- deputy commissioner AV Narasimha Rao, Khammam excise superintendent K Madhusudhan Rao, Prohibition and Excise superintendent M Shankaraiah and DS Nath, excise inspector, Khammam district.The four are said to have played an active role in handing over control of business of 16 liquor shops to the syndicate led by Nunna Venkata Ramana.D Boobathi Babu, ACB director-general said on Sunday that they registered 24 criminal cases on January 25 based on scrutiny reports on data gathered from searches in syndicate offices.ACB officials registered one more case on March 2 and conducted searches in many places and seized files from the accused.Speaking about Nunna’s comments made in his bail plea stating he is a famer, Boobathi Bau disputed the claim saying that Ramana was a liquor don having ownership of 29 wine shops in Khammam and influence over 80 shops in Khammam and Warangal.
