New Delhi: Apple is expected to unveil the much-awaited iWatch alongside the iPhone 6 launch on September 9. According to a new report from Re/Code the Cupertino giant is believed to reveal its first wearable device (reportedly will be called iTime) alongside next-gen iPhones.
The new device may make use of Apple's HealthKit health and fitness platform as well as HomeKit, Apple's new framework for controlling connected devices.
The smartwatch reportedly will come with a slightly rectangular display that likely measures 2.5 inches diagonally. The watchface will protrude slightly from the band, creating an arched shape, and feature a touch interface and wireless charging capabilities.
Speculation has been mounting that Apple's iWatch would include multiple health and fitness sensors and access to features such as messages and notifications through integration with the iPhone and iPad.
Apple had recently poached a senior executive from Swiss luxury watch brand Tag Heuer, which could be to help it with the launch of its iWatch.
The company is in a race against Samsung and Google to turn computers into wearable fashion and must-have items as smartphones.
Reports are doing the rounds that Apple expects to ship 50 million units of the so-called iWatch within the first year of the product's release, although these types of initial estimates can be subject to change.
