New Delhi: Eagerly awaited Tamil film 'Aravaan' is a period flick based on the novelist Venkatesan's book 'Kaaval Kottam' and stars Aadhi, Dhansika and Archana Kavi in the main roles. Kabir Bedi is also playing a pivotal character in the film. The film also marks the debut of the singer Karthik as a music director.
Apparently the director Vasanthabalan chose Aadhi for the lead character of Varipuli after watching his performance in films such as 'Mirugam' and 'Eeram'. The equally dedicated actor developed an eight pack abs in just three months to suit the character.
The film will also showcase Malayalam actress Archana Kavi in a bold and aggressive role.
'Aravaan' is set in the backdrop of the historical city of Madurai where the actors will be seen flaunting a dialect unknown for today's Madurai. The exact detailing of costumes is also taken care of. The heroine of the film Dhansika throws some light on it," I was very unsure about my costumes initially. But once I got into the character, I knew this role was the one that I had been waiting for. I was told not to opt for make-up throughout the film."
The director reveals a little more about the film," The idea for the plot sprung when one night I was reading a book on 300 years of Madurai. It was a huge book with nearly 4,500 pages. Su Venkatesan's novel Kaaval Kottam, and a very small incident in it was what led to the idea that then got developed into the plot of my next script."
The art department of the film has left no stone unturned to make the film look authentic. The crew of 'Aravaan' created two villages to suit the script. The film will be released on March 2. (With inputs from The New Indian Express)
