VELLORE: Vellore police will provide adequate security for Vellore District Court Complex, which witnessed a macabre incident on Tuesday, to ensure safety and security to the advocates and litigants, DIG of Vellore Range P Sakthi Velu said.He said, “A team of armed police personnel will be deployed at the front and rear entrances of the court on working days. Besides, a jurisdiction inspector and SP will also visit the court frequently to monitor the security.” After a meeting with district magistrate and advocate associations on Monday, the department decided to revive security, he added.Recalling Tuesday’s incident in the Vellore court, where a five-member gang, led by a notorious criminal, Vasur Raja, tried to murder Jaggan, an accused in a murder case, in Sathuvachari Police Station limit, the DIG said, “It was an unfortunate incident. We want Vellore to be free of such incidents.” Sakthi Velu added that inspector of Sathuvachari station A T Ramachandran, who was transferred in connection with the macabre incident, had remanded Vasur Raja in a robbery case on March 25. He had also arrested two of his associates in another case the next day. However, they soon got bail and tried to murder Jaggan over enmity, he added. Two other special sub-inspectors were also transferred to Ambur sub-division in connection with this incident.SP of Vellore A Kayalvizhi said: “We will take severe action against anti-social elements to ensure law and order in the district.”Since this January, Vellore police have executed bond against 942 criminals and a total of 17 and 3 persons were booked under Bootleggers and Goondas Act, respectively, said the DIG.
