BANGALORE: Home Minister and Bangalore Urban District In-charge Minister R Ashok convened a press conference to talk about discussions at a Bruahat Bengaluru Mahanagara Pallike (BBMP)review meeting on Monday and his answer to most of the questions was just “I don’t know”.Ashok, who announced the introduction of car parking tax for those who park cars on the streets, did not display much interest in answering the questions about it. He just said that the issue of the car parking tax has not been included as a ‘subject’ in the review meeting. He had also announced that Palike was going to borrow loan from Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) to clear its debts. However, when asked about the loan amount, Ashok said that he did not know at what per cent the Palike is borrowing loan from the KUIDFC and on what basis KUIDFC is giving loan to Palike. Later, however, he answered that the Palike had taken a loan of Rs. 3,000 crore. Ashok had said earlier that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda had agreed to give Rs. 500 crore to the BBMP. When asked about the Rs. 1,500 crore from the State Government that was promised in the budget, Ashok said he did not know about the matter. “I did not do the BBMP budget and I am not aware,” he said. He also denied having promised last year of getting Rs. 1,300 crore from the government.
