Assam: Brave girl Gunjan injured on way to receive award
The Class VIII girl had been lauded for her courage in giving herself up to armed abductors to save the life of 10 other kids.

Jorhat: Assam brave girl Gunjan Sharma has met with an accident while on her way to collect the award from Chief minister Tarun Gogoi.

According to the police, a multi-utility vehicle, carrying Gunjan's parents, sister and uncle, lost control due to heavy fog and skid off on the National Highway-37 in the wee hours near Hatikhuli Tea Estate under Bokakhat police station in Golaghat district.

All six injured, including the driver, were rushed to Bokakhat Primary Health Centre and were later shifted to Jorhat Medical College Hospital.

The Class VIII girl from Nazira in Sivasagar went into national limelight last month after she volunteered to be taken away by kidnappers in lieu of 10 other school kids in the school bus.

The kidnappers had taken her away and released the other children. She, however, managed to flee from the captivity next morning.
