New Delhi: Asus has announced the launch of its much-awaited 3-in-1 device - PadFone - in India. The Asus PadFone is an Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, but when connected to the PadFone Station, it is transformed into a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 screen) Android ICS tablet with up to 63 hours of talk time.
Asus' PadFone is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. It has an 8-megapixel camera with Fuji image processor, F2.2 aperture. The Asus PadFone will be available in India at a price point of Rs 64,999.
Further, the Padfone and the Padfone Station, when docked on the bundled Padfone Station Dock, offers the user computing experience like a Netbook, which is said to offer extended battery life of up to 104 hours and access to ports like Card Reader and USBs.
The PadFone provides all of the PadFone Station's processing power and storage when the two are docked. So it does not matter which device was used last. All photos, documents, and games are available whenever users need them.
Users can continue right where they left off when moving from pad to phone without having to start all over.
When docked, the PadFone Station uses the PadFone's 3G connection for internet access, so users only need one data plan for two devices.
The PadFone Station comes with its own keyboard dock – the PadFone Station Dock. The Station Dock keyboard accessory also houses its own battery that charges the PadFone for up to 102 hours of talk time and comes with additional USB ports and card reader.
It also comes with an optional Bluetooth stylus headset, which is both a headset and a stylus.
