New Delhi: In the wake deadly Paris terror attack, Indian intelligence agencies claimed that at least 19 Indians have joined ISIS and constantly monitoring nearly 50 people across the country for following ISIS propaganda through various social networking sites.
Intelligence sources told CNN-IBN that many Indians who have joined ISIS are those who moved to Gulf countries for work. "We are worried over the spread of ISIS. In India, LeT remains the most dangerous enemy. ISIS is a threat to India but not like it is to Europe. Indian nationals have gone to join ISIS and have been brought back as well. We are constantly working to check the spread of ISIS propaganda."
It is also learnt that police forces across the country remain on high alert and concerned agencies were asked to intensify their vigil in the bordering areas. Security at coastal areas was also beefed up and multiple agencies including the Home and External Affairs are constantly monitoring the situation in France.
Sources said that ISIS activity in India depends on how the terror group expands in Afghanistan and in Pakistan.
Earlier in Guwahati, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "It is also a matter of concern that some Indian youths have been attracted to ISIS. We cannot take it lightly. We take it as a challenge."
