Irked by the ban on AXN, the Indian Broadcasting Foundation says it will take up the matter with the Government.

New Delhi: Irked by the Government's ban on foreign satellite channel AXN, the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) on Friday said it would take up the matter with the Government as it has created "unnecessary confusion" within the industry.

"It is a serious issue and has led to unnecessary confusion in the industry. We are not sure what is to be shown and what is not to be shown," Naresh Chahal, Director IBF, told PTI.

He described the Government's decision, banning AXN till March 15 for its programme World's Sexiest Commercials, as "curbing the freedom of the industry".

"How can one-two people decide what can be shown and what is against public morality?" he questioned.

The IBF, a grouping of major Indian broadcasters like Star, Sony, Zee, ESPN, TV Today, India TV and Discovery, will be holding its board meeting next week to prepare an action plan.

"We hope to meet the minister next week to take up the matter," Chahal said.
