BHADRAK: Even as there has been no rain for the last two days, river Baitarini continues to be in spate. Over 400 villages in three blocks of Bhadrak district are marooned.
The victims have alleged the district administration of failing to tackle the situation and providing relief to them.Official sources said flash floods in Baitarini have affected over three lakh people in 372 villages under six blocks. The situation in Bhandaripokhari, Dhamnagar, Tihidi and Chandbali is still grim.

While seven persons who were swept away by flood water are still missing, three bodies have been recovered so far. The deceased have been identified as Sandhyarani Panda and Ramesh Das of Bhandaripokhari and Sampada Rout of Bhadrak.

While the four men were rescued, the patient died. The deceased was identified as Pradip Kumar Rout of Raipur village under Dhamnghar block.

River Baitarini is flowing one metre above the danger mark of 17.83 metre at Akhuapada.
