New Delhi: BlackBerry has announced the availability of its much-awaited BBM for iPhone app for Australia as the calendar moved to September 22. The app was first available in New Zealand. But the equally-if-not-more-eagerly-awaited Android app which was scheduled to arrive earlier is still nowhere to be seen.
"G'day mates. It's 12:01am somewhere. That's right, we're lookin' at you #Australia. BBM for #iPhone is here." tweeted the official @BBM Twitter ID and BlackBerry had no apologies or excuses for the inordinate dalay in releasing the Android app, only a few jokes, that many found to be poor.
"Hey, at least waiting at home is better than waiting in line. ;) #Android #BBM4ALL," @BBM tweeted, followed by another that said, "We promise we're not playing favorites! #BBM4ALL.
BBM for Android was scheduled to arrive on the Google Play Store at 4:30 PM IST (7 AM EDT) today, to be followed by BBM for iPhones running iOS 6 and iOS 7 at 12:01 AM local time on September 22.
The BBM launch is one of the most eagerly awaited app launches ever.
