Bengaluru: Days after a British news channel claimed to have traced down the person who operates "most followed" pro-Islamic State Twitter handle to Bengaluru, the city police on Saturday arrested a youth in connection with the reports.

The youth who allegedly operated the @ShamiWitness handle was arrested under sections for Unlawful Activities Act and Waging War Against the Country Act.

Mehdi Mehboob Biswas, as the person is identified, will be jointly interrogated by intelligence agencies NIA,IB and RAW.

While speaking to Channel 4, Biswas had expressed apprehensions about his safety and feared imminent arrest. "I have a suspicion that the police, when they come to arrest me, might try to kill me. I want to state clearly that I won't resist arrest. I haven't done anything wrong. I haven't harmed anybody. I haven't waged any war or any violence against India. I just said stuff, people followed me. I only knew what the IS sympathisers said in public tweets," Biswas clarified his stance.
