A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP on Friday demanded dismissal of the Uttar Pradesh government saying women have no security under the Akhilesh Yadav led dispensation.

Participating in a discussion on atrocities on women in Lok Sabha, Sadhvi Savitri Bai Phoole claimed that crime against women in Uttar Pradesh has been increasing day by day and alleged that police and administration were giving patronage to criminals. "I demand that the UP government should be dismissed immediately as there is complete breakdown of law and order," she said.

Phoole, a member from Uttar Pradesh, said people will get relief only when the Samajwadi Party government is removed and a BJP-led government assumes power.

Trinamool Congress member Ratna De Nag said there was an urgent need to plug the loopholes in criminal justice system to punish those involved in crime against women. "Justice delayed is justice denied. I have failed to understand what is preventing the Central government from setting up special courts and fastrack courts in different parts of the country," she said.

Nag said the main problem in giving punishment to criminals is non-implementation of existing laws and urged for strict enforcement of laws.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Poonam Mahajan demanded that the National Commission for Women should be given autonomy and enough power on the line of National Human Rights Commission.

Mahajan urged the government to set up a national grievance cell to receive distress calls of women and said its branches should be set up in state and district level too.
