HYDERABAD: The disqualification petitions submitted by the party against four rebel MLAs are pending before Assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar and it is for him to take the necessary action as the ball is in his court, PCC chief and transport minister Botcha Satyanarayana has said.Talking with Express, the PCC president has, however, refused to specify the disciplinary action to be taken by the party against the pro-Jagan MLAs who were served show-cause notices for their alleged anti-party activities. Already, the MLAs who had received the notices from previous PCC chief D Srinivas gave replies but the party leadership has not contemplated, let alone initiate, against the rebels. It may be recalled that the then government chief whip Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who is now Assembly deputy speaker, and whip K Murali Mohan had submitted petitions to the speaker on behalf of the Congress Legislature Party seeking disqualification of Konda Surekha (Parakal), G Srikant Reddy (Rayachoti), C Adinarayana Reddy (Jammalamadugu) and A Amarnath Reddy (Rajampet) from the membership of the Assembly. In response, the Legislature Secretariat served notices to the rebel MLAs seeking explanation to the charges mentioned in the disqualification petitions submitted by the CLP. The MLAs concerned responded to the notices but no action has been taken by the speaker till date. According to Assembly sources, the speaker will first clear the pending disqualification petition case submitted by the TDP against its rebel MLA N Prasanna Kumar Reddy (Kovur). He has already started the process of hearing for necessary action on the issue which has been pending for more than a year. Disqualification petitions filed against TDP rebel MLA Y Balanagi Reddy (Mantralayam) and PRP rebel legislator B Shobha Nagi Reddy (Allagadda) are also pending before the speaker for action. In all, there are seven disqualification petitions against the MLAs pending. It is learnt that the Congress leadership is not in a hurry  to take action against its party rebel MLAs immediately. Instead it has started making efforts to convince other rebel MLAs loyal to Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSR Congress back into the party fold. All sorts of measures which include issue of threats or stoppage of Government cooperation in respect of developmental works in the constituencies concerned etc. are being taken to bring them back into the party.
