Yielding at last to the continuous demand for a better road to the Vyttila Mobility Hub, the Public Works Department (PWD) started to reconstruct the entrance road on Wednesday. The overall work of laying inter-locked tiles will be over by Sunday and the road will be ready for use soon, a PWD official said.
The PWD road, connecting the Vyttila junction and the mobility hub, was in a pathetic condition for the last one month.
Hundreds of people have lodged complaints in the register at the mobility hub regarding the dilapidated state of the road .
Banners were erected on the roadsides demanding the renovation of the road.
The dusty road had been creating problems for the shops and pedestrians for quite some time.
So the decision to start repairing the road came as a blessing not only for the passengers but for the traders as well.
Vyttila Mobility Hub officials approached the PWD authorities and convinced them to start work at the earliest. The talks bear fruit and the road is about to get a facelift.
“For the last one year only maintenance work was done on this road. Considering the frequent traffic the maintenance work was not enough, so we have decided to reconstruct the road. The work will be completed by Sunday,” said a PWD official.
P M Shafeek, hub manager, said the hub authorities have pressurised the PWD officials to speed up the formalities and start the reconstruction of the road.
