Bypasses: Centre told to explain delay

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Thursday asked the Central Government to explain the reasons for the decade-long delay in completing the bypasses in Alappuzha and Kollam. Justice S Siri Jagan passed the order while considering a petition filed by N T Muhammedali and two others against the inaction on the part of the authorities in completing the Chavakkad bypass in Thrissur which begins from Williams bus stop and joins near Manathala Mosque on NH 17. The court directed the Assistant Solicitor General to file a statement in this regard. The court had earlier directed the authorities to complete the works of the bypasses in Alappuzha and Kollam on time
