Caught on Camera: Traffic Cop Gets Into Trouble For Charging Bribe from Postmaster

A traffic police personnel was caught red handed taking bribe from a central government employee. The victim has also shot a video of this incident which showed the cop demanding bribe from him.

The victim is a post master from Bihar’s Majorganj. According to the victim, on Saturday when he was leaving from an eatery near Patna’s Kargil Chowk area, a traffic police personnel, Ajit Kumar made him stop his vehicle and demanded papers (related to the vehicle) from him.

When he handed over the papers, the police personnel said that a fine of Rs 11,000 would be charged, as his vehicle had not cleared the pollution test.

The victim said that since he did not have that amount with him at the moment, he asked the traffic personnel to reduce the amount. After negotiation with the police personnel, the officer then settled for an amount of Rs 2,000 as bribe.

The victim shot a video of this incident which showed him paying the required amount to the police personnel and lodged a complaint against him.

Traffic DSP Deepak Kumar said that the matter has come to his notice. He assured that they will be taking action against the accused officer if he is found guilty after investigation. Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Tiwari said that strict action will be taken against the accused.

Traffic Police: Where is your helmet?

Postmaster: I have my helmet. I was eating at the shop nearby. I forgot the helmet there.

Traffic Police: Your pollution test has failed. A fine of Rs 11,000 will be imposed for this. You were arguing. If you argue, the fine will be increased to Rs 15,000.

Postmaster: I was not arguing. Where will I go after arguing with you.

Traffic Police: Where is your house?

Postmaster: I am the Postmaster of Majorganj.

Traffic Police: Go. I will reduce the amount by Rs 5,000.

Postmaster: How can I pay so much, Sir? (Takes out Rs 500 from pocket)

Traffic Police: I don’t work for Rs 500-800.

Postmaster: (Takes out Rs 2000 from pocket) Give me the paper now.

Traffic Police: Go. Sangeeta, give him the paper. It is good that you are from Majorganj. Go with respect.

The victim, Upendra Kumar Singh also complained that the police personnel had threatened to take his vehicle to the police station and file a case against him.
