CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has ordered transfer of a case of steel theft pending before the Gudiyattam town police station in Vellore district to the CB-CID. Justice T Mathivanan gave the direction on March 26 while allowing a criminal original petition from V Rajendran, manager of Tulsyan Nec Limited, a manufacturer of steel.According to advocate Abudukumar, the company hired a lorry belonging to TG Logistics Private Limited for transport of 23 MTs of steel valued at `9.86 lakh to a firm in Goa on May 1, 2011. The lorry, belonging to one K Nagaraj, was driven by Ameer Hussain and left on the evening of May 1. But the consignment did not reach the destination. The lorry was recovered later.The petitioner lodged a complaint with the Gudiyattam police on May 17. But no action was taken. The ADGP, CB-CID, Guindy was directed by the judge to nominate a competent officer not below the rank of Assistant Commissioner to take up the probe and file the final report within three weeks.
