CHENNAI: The supervisor of a private company died of severe burns after his television set exploded at his residence in Seven Wells on Wednesday.According to sources, 55-year-old Nagalingam, a resident of Lawyer Chinna Thambi Street, was on leave for the last 20 days, as he was unwell. On Wednesday evening, he switched on the TV set. Since there was a power cut from 4 pm to 6 pm in his area, he had used an inverter for the purpose. His wife Usha had gone to a temple and the couple had no children.The TV set suddenly exploded and the sparks landed in Nagalingam’s bed. Since he was unwell, he could not get up fast enough and sustained 80 per cent burn injuries mainly on his chest. He was admitted in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he died Thursday morning.
