PATHANAMTHITTA: The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala will be opened on Tuesday evening for Chithira Attathirunal celebration, the birth anniversary of late Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma of the Travancore royal family, slated to be held on October 26.Sahasrakalasam and kalabhabhishekam will be the special rituals to be conducted on that day.Udayasthamana pooja, padi pooja and pushpabhishekam will be held. The temple will be closed on October 26 evening after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam. The temple will reopen on November 16 evening for the annual 41-day mandala pooja, which will begin on November 17.Installation Ceremony: The installation ceremony of new melsanthis of Sabarimala and Malikappuram will be held at 7 pm on November 16. Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu will perform kalasabhishekam on new melsanthi M Balamurali in front of the sreekovil, as part of the ceremony.Similarly, the thantri will perform kalasabhishekam on Easwaran Nampoothiri in front of the Malikappuram Devi temple sreekovil.New melsanthis of Sabarimala and Malikappuram will take charge for a period of one year on November 17 morning.
