BANGALORE: In an attempt to popularise the BBMP egovernance initiative, the Citizens Voluntary Initiative for the City (CIVIC) organised a presentation on BBMP’s web-based Global Project Management System (GPMS) on Saturday. The event created a platform where citizens could actively voice their concerns and interact with BBMP officials.BBMP’s GPMS helps citizens to monitor the status and management of BBMP projects. K R Niranjan, Special Commissioner, BBMP and IT Advisor Sheshadri were present at the event.Some of the important queries included a question on the back end competence of the project. Citizens were concerned about getting a timely response to their queries and whether action would be taken against officials indulging in falsification of data on the portal.Along with the status of projects, people also wanted the BBMP to upload a list of proposed projects and enable a forum for discussion.“BBMP is the first city corporation in the country to come up with such an initiative but the people need to be familiarized with the system”, Kathyayini Chamaraj, Executive Trustee, CIVIC, said.
