CJI Dipak Misra Meets Four Dissenting Supreme Court Judges, Offers Olive Branch
According to sources, the meeting lasted for 15 minutes and the CJI offered to listen to their grievances. All issues concerning the institution were discussed.

New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India has finally offered an olive branch to the four dissenting senior judges in the Supreme Court.

On Tuesday morning, CJI Dipak Misra met the four other judges, Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph.

The meeting lasted for around 15 minutes where all "relevant issues" were discussed amid cordiality.

Sources tell CNN-News18 that the meeting took place in the chamber of the CJI, who had requested all four to meet him.

The meeting remained inconclusive and is likely to resume tomorrow as well.

According to the sources, the deliberation was amicable and all five agreed that the institution was capable of resolving all issues by itself.

The breakthrough has happened three days after the four dissenting judges had a press conference to raise certain grievances about the administrative orders of the CJI.

The judges had said they were discharging their debt to the nation and that addressing media was their last resort.

While their method divided the Supreme Court judges, many felt the issues were real and that they required to be addressed.

On Monday morning, many of these judges met over the customary tea.

The CJI today decided to finally break the ice.
