ATHANI: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that state government will organise ‘Agro World Conference’ in Bangalore on Decemeber 1 and 2 to strengthen the agricultural sector.Giving away Asare houses to 1,193 flood-hit affected families at Ankali in Chikkodi taluk on Sunday, he said that commitment to an investment of Rs 50,000 crore is expected at the conference.He also said that the government distributed 43,449 houses under Asare scheme and it has a target of constructing 63,000 more for flood victims. A total of 294 flood-prone villages have been identified in the state and they will be shifted gradually, he added.On drought, he said tha t Rs 187 crore is reserved for relief operations.Rajya Sabha member Prabhakar Kore said that Chikkodi taluk is being developed as a result of Nanjundappa committee report.Chikkodi MP Ramesh Katti urged the CM to sanction Rs 200 crore for Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Project in Athani and Rs 25 crore for Bhagyalaxmi Lift Irrigation Project. Housing Minister V Somanna said that the state government is committed to making the state hut-free, he explained.
