Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the construction of the first multistoried IT building on Infopark Thrissur campus at Koratty on Saturday. The campus will have a building of 3 lakh sq ft which is expected to generate employment for 2,500 people. The new building is expected to be operational in 18 months. Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Cooperation Minister C N Balakrishnan, K P Dhanapalan MP, B D Devassy MLA, P H Kurian, Principal Secretary, Information Technology, and Gigo Joseph, chief executive officer, Infopark will be present. Infopark got 30 acres of land with old buildings in January, 2009 and the park authorities decided to launch the campus by renovating the buildings. “We are getting positive response from global IT companies to invest in tier-2 cities which are cost effective when compared to tier-one cities,” said Kurian. “The first phase of the park was fully occupied in the first year of operation and now the second phase is also getting completed.
