Co-Optex Deepavali sale kickstarts in Fort City

With the sales target of Rs 12 crore set for this Deepavali, the Vellore Region of Co-Optex kick started its special Deepavali sales in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts. Vellore Collector P Sankar inaugurated the festival sale in Deepam Co-Optex showroom on Monday while Tiruvannamalai Collector Dr. Vijay Pingale opened the sales in Pournami Co-Optext Showroom in the temple town on Tuesday.

Regional Manager of Co-Optex, M Rajamanickam, said that they aimed at achieving sales of Rs 12 crore from 21 showrooms in the region comprising Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. During last year, the region had achieved sales of Rs 6.28 crore. “We have different varieties and design of sarees this season. We have contemporary to modern designs of soft silk sarees and embroidered silk sarees,” said Mr Rajamanickam.

He added that the department had set a sales target of Rs 3.97 crore this Deepavali season as against the  Rs 1.58 crore target set last year for Vellore district.

The region had achieved cash sales of Rs 12.64 crore during the fiscal year of 2011-2012 and credit sales of `10.02 crore for the period between 2010 and 2012, said a press release.

Co-optex had allowed its customers to buy handloom products under Kanavu Nanavu Thittam through a ten-month savings scheme. Adding nearly 40,000 new customers under the scheme.
