Jammu: Police say they have foiled suicide attack in Jammu on the lines of the attack on Islamabad’s Marriot Hotel.
They claim say three suicide bombers from Jaish-e-Mohammad arrested on Sunday were planning to ram a vehicle loaded with explosives into an unspecified target.
The police also claim one of the arrested men – 25-year-old Ghulam Fareed was a serving sepoy in the 10-AK regiment of the Pakistani Army. The trio flew from Karachi to Dhaka on December 15 and later infiltrated into West Bengal.
“One of them is a sepoy with belt no. 4319148. They were brought here by a guide from Kolkata and were brought here,” says Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Kuldeep Khuda.
The Jaish group was carrying fake I-cards of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Company. The Jammu and Kashmir police says the trio had been trained by Mufti Abdul Rauf, the younger brother of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
The police have indicated at the involvement of the Pakistani Army. “Jaish camps are operating right under the nose of Pakistani Army. It is opposite Muleer cantonment,” says Khuda.
Security agencies in the past have complained that Pakistani Army and rangers aid infiltration across the borders and LoC.
