A case of disproportionate assets has been registered by the Anti-Corruption Department against a peon posted in the Lucknow Development Authority. It is alleged that the employee, Om Prakash Singh, spent significantly more money than his income in acquiring movable and immovable properties over the past nine years.
Later an investigation was initiated by the Anti-Corruption Department on the government’s orders. The investigation revealed that between January 1, 2013 and May 31, 2022, Om Prakash earned a total of Rs 33,58,867 from all legitimate sources, including salary, arrears, bonus and bank interest.
However, during the same period, he spent Rs 1,02,88,143 in acquiring and maintaining movable and immovable properties. This amount is Rs 69.29 lakh more than his total legitimate income.
According to the registered case, in June 2022, the Joint Secretary of the Home Department ordered an inquiry into the properties acquired by Om Prakash.
Following the investigation, when the Anti-Corruption Department asked him for the account of income and expenditure, he was unable to provide any satisfactory explanation. Consequently, further action has been taken by the department, with a case now registered against him.
