Two companies of CRPF and BSF along with 500 jawans of Haryana police were deployed in Pataudi area of Gurgaon district on Saturday to enforce law and order, after 16 vehicles carrying cattle into the town were torched by angry villagers.
As many as 16 trucks transporting cattle from Chandigarh to Maanpur gaushala in UP's Dharuhera village were set ablaze yesterday by irate villagers of Pataudi area, who reportedly mistook the officials from Chandigarh Municipal Corporation accompanying the convoy of 25 trucks as cattle smugglers.
Only 7 trucks could finally reach Dharuhera carrying 48 cattle.
Meanwhile, 43 various organizations including 17 village panchayats of Pataudi block, 32 village panchayats of Farukhnagar block and municipal committees have condemned Friday's incident.
Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi and Commissioner of Police Alok Mittal visited Pataudi to take stock of the situation and asked officers concerned to strictly enforce law and order there.
DCP (South) Rahul Sharma and SDM Pataudi Manoj Khatri were present at the spot and monitoring law and order in the area.
The CRPF and BSF companies along with about 500 jawans of Haryana Police and officers of district administration carried out flag march in the area, DCP (South) Rahul Sharma said.
SDM Pataudi Manoj Khatri said that two companies of CRPF and BSF have already arrived and two more companies of CRPF and BSF will reach on Sunday.
Sharma said two FIRs have been registered in Pataudi and Farukhnagar police stations against miscreants who torched the vehicles.
