BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered three weeks stay on Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) decision to remove advertisement hoarding and banners in the city.
Hearing a petition filed by Prakash and Ambani, who had taken the contract on banners and hoarding, Justice Abdul Nazeer ordered the Palike to stay for three weeks. The petitioners, in their submission said that, they had taken the tender and without paying their dues, BBMP had removed the banners and hoarding in the city.Permission is needed from the BBMP's advertisement department to display banners and hoardings. The Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act states that flex boards or hoardings can be displayed for a short period of time, if permission is obtained in advance and if the stipulated fee is paid.
