KOCHI: Excise Minister K Babu has said that the newly formed Thrikkakkara Municipality has immense potential for development. After laying the foundation stone for the casuality ward at the Cooperative Hospital in Thrikkakkara the other day, he said that industrial institutions and other organisations should lend a hand in development initiatives for the collective progress of society. Referring to the efforts made by DLF Home developers Ltd which contributed Rs 23 lakh for construction of the causality ward at the hospital, the Minister said that both the private and public sector units can contribute their share by actively participating in the development programmes. C N Balakrishnan, Minister for Cooperation, inaugurated the annexe building of the hospital. Benny Behnan MLA presided over the function. District Collector Sheikh Pareeth, P I Muhammadali, municipal chairman, Eldhose P Kunnappilly, district panchayat president, V P Saseendran, president, District Cooperative Bank, M E Hassainar, vice-chaiman, Ernakulam District Cooperative Bank, K Sivaprasad, DLF advisor, also attended the function. Lt Gen M G Girish, executive vice-president, DLF d, handed over the initial payment for the construction of the casuality ward to Adv Shereena Shookur, vice-chairperson, Thrikkakara Municipality. Prof M K Prasad released the book ‘Mathruthwathinte Porul’ written by Rajakumari.
