BANGALORE: Former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde on Thursday indirectly chided former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s efforts to avoid jail on health grounds.Speaking on the sidelines of a function in the city on Thursday, Hegde, who had nailed a host of ministers, including former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and former tourism minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, in his second and final report on illegal mining in the state, said: “My mother’s entire family is diabetic but no one accepted this. I, too, suffer from diabetes and hypertension. I am not saying this to avoid jail or any other contingency.”On the current political situation in the state and in the country, he bemoaned that politics, which ought to be service to the public has become a business.Hegde had recently stepped down from the office of the Lokayukta.
