Disaster Management plan soon

KOCHI: An emergency plan for disaster management in the district will soon be prepared, District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has said. “An awareness campaign will be organised on the banks of the Periyar with the support of grama panchayats and the Revenue Department. Besides, pamphlets and maps which outline proper guidelines for safety measures will also be circulated,” he said.To give more support to the police, the services of the Fire and Rescue Services, Revenue and Local Self-Government departments, the KWA and the KSEB will also be incorporated. “Both the police and the Motor Vehicles Department will be entrusted with the duties of traffic control during emergency,” the Collector said. ADM E K Sujatha and Deputy Collector (Disaster Management) Indira Devi also attended the meeting.
