New Delhi: The Customs Department in Mumbai has seized an imported car belonging to actress Dia Mirza in a case of alleged duty evasion, department sources said.
Suspecting duty evasion, custom officialss seized the actress' Land Cruiser and summoned here to record her statement.
The actress, who is in Goa at present, would appear before the department soon, they said.
Earlier, customs had seized imported cars of actors Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan but returned the vehicles on relaising that they had paid neccessary duties.
Recently, an imported Land Cruiser of actress Sushmita Sen was also seized by the department on the charge of tax evasion.
The Customs surveillance for tax evasion on luxury cars was turned to Bollywood after surprise raids in on 12 houses in Kerala produced some information about import of luxury cars -- especially Land Cruisers -- for Bollywood actors in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Customs had already seized four luxury cars imported from Dubai port by the natives of Kasargod, Kerala. The luxury cars including Land Cruisers were imported for Bollywood stars. All the persons whose houses were raided in Kerala are working in the Gulf.
