CHENNAI: DMK Councillor Govindan is likely to be grilled in a case relating to a low intensity bomb explosion at TP Chatram as he had rented out the room to the accused three months ago. Police said they found that Govindan had taken the house on lease and rented it out to Sathya. Sathya and Suganthan were injured when the explosives they were using to make a country bomb went off in a room at the quarters on Friday morning. Police said Sathya was involved in two murders, including one at Tirunelveli, while Suganthan was involved in the murder of Dalit leader Pasupathi Pandian’s kin Kasi Pandian a few months ago. Police arrested the two persons under Sections 4 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, Arms Act and IPC Sections 337 and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).Two Die, One Injured In Separate MishapsTwo persons,including a woman, died and one was injured, in separate accidents near Ennore on Friday. Police said L Mallika (54) of Gandhi Nagar, Ernavur and her son Senthil (28), working abroad and in India for his marriage, were on their way on a two-wheeler to invite relatives for the wedding when a container lorry hit the motorbike from behind. Although both fell off the bike, Mallika was run over by the lorry while her son Senthil sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.In another accident, pedestrian Manoharan (55), a daily wage labourer was killed after a container lorry hit him. Gold Jewellery Stolen From Wedding HallFifteen sovereigns of gold jewellery was reported stolen from a wedding hall in Royapuram on Friday. Police said Mohammad of Singaravelu Street, Royapuram had kept the jewellery in the wedding hall at SN Chetti Street, Kasimedu on the day of his daughter’s marriage when it was found stolen. Police have registered a case and have recovered a video clip from a CCTV camera installed in the hall.
