KOCHI: Ernakulam district has registered 96.08 per cent pass in the 2012 Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination. This is above the state average of 93.63 per cent. Of the 40,152 students who appeared for the examination, 38,578 were declared eligible for higher studies. The district has secured the fifth place in the state. 110 schools in the district registered 100 per cent pass, including 42 schools from the Aluva educational district, 26 from the Ernakulam educational district, 24 from the Muvattupuzha educational district and 18 from the Kothamangalam educational district. 671 students in the district, including 462 girls and 209 boys, obtained A+ grade for all subjects. Of this, 302 students (99 boys and 203 girls) are from Aluva, 156 (41 boys and 115 girls) from Ernakulam, 126 (38 boys and 88 girls) from Muvattupuzha and 87 (31 boys and 56 girls) from Kothamangalam. Girls outnumbered boys in the pass percentage as as well as in bagging A+ grade. 19,308 girls and 19,270 boys in the district have been declared eligible for higher studies.
