PUDUCHERRY: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition V Vaithilingam, on Friday, said that external forces were behind the agitation against the Koodankulam nuclear power plant project (KKNPP). Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a rally organised in support of KKNPP, he said the ongoing agitation opposing the plant was being instigated by external forces which did not favour the country’s development.Vaithilingam urged the Centre to take steps to open the Koodankulam plant, which would ensure additional power to States such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala which are currently facing power shortage.The rallyists urged the Centre to fix a date for opening the Koodankulam plant. PCC chief A V Subramanian, former ministers C Jayakumar, Kandasamy and Pedhaperumal took part in the rally along with party workers.
